Introduction to Greek Culture and Civilization
This course provides an orientation for students of diverse backgrounds across the vast and immensely rich panorama of modern Greek culture. Among the topics covered are: National and local landscape, space and its use; Music from antiquity to today, Drama and theatre, Democracy and Citizenship: Then and Now, The evolution of Modern Greek language and literature, Traditional shadow theatre, Social and economic impact of festivals and holidays, Cultural Elements of Life in Greek villages and towns, and Traditional diet.
