Helen in the Iliad and the Odyssey
The Trojan War is a major chapter in ancient Greek Myth and Helen is a capital figure in all literary narratives relating the Trojan expedition. The main literary evidence is, of course, provided by the Iliad and the Odyssey, the first epic poems preserved in Greek history. Although Helen is an important figure in both epics there are specific features in her portrayal in each epic reflecting different attitudes, aspects and social priorities.
The lecture will take place on Thursday 23rd of March, in the Central Library, 1st floor, in the seminar room next to the entrance, at 16.30.
